Steven Spielberg's loving homage to the Saturday matinee cliffhanger serials of his childhood. The US government enlists archaeologist-adventurer Indiana Jones to locate the biblical "Lost Ark of the Covenant" where the remains of the broken tablets of the Ten Commandments were placed. En route Jones and his feisty ex-girlfriend must escape the clutches of evil Nazis, duplicitous "natives," and a nest of venomous snakes -- not to mention the wrath of God.

When Indy's archaeologist dad, Prof. Henry Jones, embarks on a quest for the Holy Grail, he is kidnapped by the Nazis, who also desire the priceless chalice. Naturally, Indy comes to the rescue, and joins his father in the search for the Grail. The audience is in for a wild ride "keeping up with the Joneses", as the two men battle enemies, trade insults, encounter rats, evade traps, become involved with the same woman, and meet Hitler.
