You are looking at Charingcross Railway Station near the Hungerford Bridge across the Thames. Hungerford bridge was built in the 1840's for pedestrians. With the coming of the railway age, it was rebuilt and strengthened in the 1860's to carry trains into Charing Cross Station. It was enlarged further in 1900. Hungerford is still and important cross river rail link connecting Charing Cross with the South Bank.
