Nestling under the shadow of Skidaw, Bassenthwaite is one of the quietest of the lakes. The road for the most part, is away from the lake, power boats are not allowed. If you want to visit the lake, then your best starting point is at Bassenthwaite village at the northern end but, take your walking boots - it's a fair hike! |
