Newcastle is the commerical centre of the northeast of England. It's also the home of, 'The Lads'; Newcastle United Football Team, Newcastle 'Broon'; a famous, strong, brown ale, and of course, 'Geordies'; the inhabitants.
Geordies have a disctinctive accent which can take a little while to understand - "diven't fash yersel aboot it hinny", (don't worry about it friend). "It may make conversation difficult with those from the south but, it's music to the ear of a Geordie far from home", says Jay.
